EU articulates ambitious climate goals

In a month with record temperatures in Canada (50C) and massive floodings in Germany and Belgium, the EU published sound objectives to reduce our carbon footprints for mobility. We as BeMup support this cause wholeheartedly: the transition from Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) driven vehicle to electrically driven vehicles is a major improvement. By using the electric vehicles in the BeMup concept an additional 10X in CO2 reduction will be achieved.
THe headlines of the program: the EU Commission has decided on the de facto phase-out of internal combustion vehicles from 2035: Officially, CO2 emissions from new cars are to be reduced by 100 per cent by then – in other words, to zero. As an interim target for 2030, the EU Commission proposes a 55 per cent reduction compared to 2021.
